Common Krait - The most Venomous snake of india
As we are at the midst of monsoon season some of you might have already encountered snakes in your home or on roads or in parks and many of you are still to encounter them, as the way humans are infiltrating into nature the human-snake encounter is surely inevitable. However the aftermath can be curbed with the little knowledge about snakes.
Definitely noticing a snake just few steps away is a peril ( atleast what we burgher think of). But for you to act stoic the next time you see one, india has 270 species of snakes out of which only 60 are considered medically relevant i.e., there are somewhat 80% chances that the snake is non-venomous, so why have heebie jeebies when you see a snake? Yes Offcourse, what if this cute bluish black minuscule in front of you turns out to be among remaining 20% or worse 'A Common krait'.
With the average length of 3 feets & ingenuous looking flat face this snake can deceive with its eyes shut from being 4 times more poisonous than a Cobra and the most venomous snake of india. Common Kraits are nocturnal, so seldom encounters human during daylight; incidents occurs during night with bite feels like that of a ant or mosquitoes giving false reassurance of being non lethal.
The love of human heat & meal snakes is what often brings a krait to human residents, even to your beds. if a person got bitten by a krait while sleeping will may even not realise that he has been bitten because of the very small fang size,z blooding from the bite & its capability to make a bite even with a single fang leaving a small lone red spot alike of mosquitoes. Although the bite elicit inflammation but is so minimal that can be gone by a few rubbings making it even harder to cognizant.
But recognising common krait isn't hard at all as the sets of 2 white rings running on its entire bluish black body from the lower neck to tip of the tail makes them easily identifiable giving a edge to safeguard . there bites can be avoided to large extent by not sleeping on floors, do not let the garbage summed up & sleeping under mosquitoes nets, as it not only restraints mostiquoes to pass through but to snakes as well.
Thankyou
In addition wolf snakes look alike common krait but are non venomous and do not possess any thread to humans although snakes are snake and will always evoke the same fear whenever you see them & can't distinguish.
